To Build a Responsible & Reliable SGCC: SGCC Releases its CSR Report 2011

SGCC held a video conference to release its CSR Report 2011 on February 21, 2012. It's the first CSR report during the 12th Five-Year Plan, marking the 7th year for SGCC to be the first SOE to release the annual CSR report. SGCC also released its "3I Plans" for the first time to explore the thorough implementation of CSR to the public, which stands for three 5-year phases- Introduction Phase, Initiative Phase, and Integration Phase- from 2006 to 2020 to comprehensively promote CSR management.

SASAC Director Peng Huagang and SGCC EVP Cao Zhi'an attended the meeting and delivered a speech. EVP and Chairman of the Labor Union Wang Min presided the meeting while the Department of Media Center released the report.

Mr. Peng Huagang said that SGCC was the first SEO to bring up the comprehensive CSR implementation and carry out fourth-grade pilot programs, which achieved good results. It's a new exploration for SEOs to enhance their CSR work. He sincerely hoped that SGCC would stay on top in CSR work and deepen the public's memory on SGCC as the leader in SEOs'CSR work.

Cao Zhi'an mentioned in his speech that SGCC has always adhered to its responsibilities and missions in serving the social and economic development and the big picture of the national power strategy, looking back at the 11th Five-Year, and that SGCC has been through an extraordinary journey of value creation, successfully forged a new national grid, and created a modern SGCC.

Cao also said SGCC will vigorously carry forward the corporate spirit of "in search of excellence, in pursuit of out-performance", deepen "Two Transformations", and speed up creating a world-class grid and a world-class company in the guidance of the Scientific Development Outlook. SGCC intends to set an example of a responsible SEO, continue exploring and enriching the connotation of CSR, innovate corporate's social communication mode, promote comprehensive CSR management, implement "Four Services" objectives, enhance the scientific, innovative, harmonious and green development, upgrade the capacity of integrated value creation, become a model corporate citizen, serve the favorable and rapid economic and social development, and find a sustainable development path with maximum integrated economic, social and environmental value with Chinese characteristics.

Deputy Director of CEC Liu Peng, Deputy Head of the General Administrative Office and Director of Research Office of SERC Yu Yanshan, Director of Management Bureau of All China Federation of Trade Unions Guo Jun, and Deputy Secretary-General of CFIE Jiang Xin attended the meeting. Leaders and experts from UN Global Compact, WWF, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and BUAA also attended the meeting.

Different from previous reports, the CSR Report 2011 has chosen a new content framework of "Will, Action, Performance", introducing SGCC's will, action and performance in maximizing the integrated economic, social and environmental value. The report reveals the latest achievement in exploring scientific CSR outlook, discloses for the first time the mechanism and methodology to determine and implement responsibility issues, introduces SGCC's fulfillment of "Ten Practices" in 2011 and the "Ten Promises" in 2012, and reflects the core concept of CSR's international standard ISO26000.

Tianjin Electric Power Company, Jiangsu Wuxi Power Supply Company, and the Zhejiang Jiashan Power Supply Company introduced their own experiences in implementing CSR management at the meeting.
