The Danish Minister for the Environment Ms. Karen Ellemann, along with SGCC Executive Vice President Shu Yinbiao, participated in the press conference to release the results from the Sino-Danish Wind Energy Development (WED) Program at the State Grid Pavilion at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai on 25 June 2010. With substantial results, they announced an end to the 3 year Sino-Danish WED program. Ms. Karen Ellemann granted the State Grid Pavilion a plaque of "the application and education base of renewable energy technology". She also presented the award to Guo Ziyuan, a student from the middle school affiliated to Jilin University, the first prize winner in the "Wind Power Science in Campus ?C Wind Power Painting Contest in Primary and High Schools". China Electric Power Research Institute was awarded the "Outstanding Partner in the Sino-Danish WED program".

The WED program is the first joint government project focusing on the wind power development. It has introduced Danish leading technology and management expertise to China's wind power industry,  creating an advanced wind power development and management system with Chinese characteristics. Attaching great importance to this program, SGCC has organized dozens of experts specializing in the power system and the wind power to join the project research.

Recent years have seen SGCC carry out a series of work concerning wind power planning, construction, operation and technology, tackling the complex technical problems in China's wind power industry in recently years. Up to now, the company's investment in the wind power integration and transmission projects is about 40 billion Yuan, and the total wind power capacity reached 16GW. The planning of 7 wind power bases has been approved, helpful to development large-scale wind power. In addition, SGCC enhanced the operating management of new energy and grid integration, vigorously undertook the technical innovation, and promoted in all efforts the wind power development.
